Crystal Palace denounce “unjust” CAS ruling after failed Conference League appeal
Crystal Palace release statement after their appeal against their demotion to the UEFA Conference League was rejected by the Court of Arbitration of Sport, describing the decision as an injustice.
The Premier League club described the ruling as “a profound sporting injustice,” maintaining their position that the original disciplinary decision was flawed.
This final verdict ends Palace’ hopes of playing the Europa league in 2025/26 after they initially qualified by winning the FA Cup. Club sources indicate they are now considering further legal options while preparing an official protest to UEFA.
UEFA demoted Palace to the Conference League, after they were deemed to have breached regulations, because their former shareholder who was the majority owner of Lyon, who also qualified for the Europa League, did not put his Palace shares in a blind trust by the March 1st deadline.
