Gareth Taylor appointed as Liverpool Women’s new manager.
Former Manchester City Women’s head coach Gareth Taylor has been appointed as the new manager of Liverpool’s Women’s Super League (WSL) team, agreeing to a long term contract.
Taylor left City last season during a difficult period marked by inconsistent results. He led City to two trophies, the FA Cup in 2020 and the League Cup in 2022. Liverpool also underwent a managerial change earlier this year, with Matt Beard departing in February and Amber Whiteley stepping in as interim coach.
Expressing his excitement about the new role, Taylor told Liverpool’s official website “I am delighted to have been appointed as Liverpool’s new head coach. Everyone in football knows about the history, size and potential of this club, and I am really looking forward to the task ahead”.
His former assistant, Chad Gribble, will also join him as part of the back room coaching staff, while Amber Whiteley, who acted as interim head coach, will remain with the club as an assistant coach.
